In Grahamstown, in the heart of the Eastern Cape, South Africa, lies a comfortable home where elderly folk are cared for. The town’s preferred choice in retirement accommodation and care, Brookshaw Home offers a wide variety of facilities and has a proud history of real service.

Brookshaw is run and managed by staff who are cheerful, friendly, patient, caring and gently efficient.  A reassuring feature of the complex of buildings in a variety of styles, set amidst spacious gardens, is its safe, secure and peaceful living environment. The well-established gardens, with tall trees, flowering shrubs, wide lawns and colourful flower beds, allow our residents to relax comfortably in a serene and tranquil environment, populated by many garden birds.

However, it is the residents who really make Brookshaw what it is. Caring, positive, special people make the Home a welcoming place to be part of.  Friendships established here in the company of interesting other residents are sustained for long years.  The Home’s location close to the city centre of Grahamstown provides easy access to shops, services and entertainment venues.

Living in a care home provides older folk with many benefits. Being in the company of their contemporaries, enjoying regular, balanced, tasty meals with friends, participating in appropriate activities that stimulate minds, bodies and souls – all contribute to a shared sense of well-being.

At Brookshaw Home, Frail Care and Assisted Living Centre we encourage older people to live independently and for as long as possible and to help others who are no longer as able to look after themselves. Most of our approximately 40 mobile residents appreciate the convenience of living independently, but if, eventually, they need to move into the Assisted Living Centre, they can have peace of mind, knowing that the move will be effortless.
